Home renovation amid “a new normal”
Apparently, nowadays reality is drastically different from our past. And I’m talking about just recent past, not a century or a decade ago, instead just about a year ago. Remember that time? The time, when we didn’t have this world-wide tragedy, called Covid-19, which took away millions of innocent lives. Looking back at that time we can surely say that it was just “normal” time for all of us. But what about nowadays? What is the name for it? After all of those pandemic related processes, looks like we have “a new normal”. Reality with all the social distancing limitations, restrictions, “working and studying from home’, etc. A new reality means that people have to adjust to new requirements and must follow those rules, prescribed by our authorities in order to gain a better future.
“New normal” has made people to work and study from their homes. It means that parts of people’s homes in the shortest possible way have become their offices, workshops and classrooms. Of course those homes were not ready for such fast transformations. But it was urgently needed in order to keep the jobs and continue classes. That was a necessity at a time. With the flow of time people realized that their “new workplaces and classrooms” were not ergonomically suitable for those activities. Obviously, because of that more a more homeowners started to plan remodelling and renovating their own houses and condos in order to accommodate “a new normal” reality. Planning usually involves couple stages like: defining a budget, thinking about design, looking for a good renovator contractor, looking for a great finishing materials, etc.
Because of Covid, every single stage has become a nightmare for the homeowners. Even while planning of renovation budget homeowners were very cautious in this unprecedented time. At the beginning nobody knew what’s going to happen in the future. And because of it everyone was trying to “keep their savings just in case”. But slowly people got used to “the new normal” and discovered that life continues and started to spend on their renovation needs.
One more task was to find a reputable and reliable contractor. It always sounded very complicated even before Covid-19 happened. Nowadays this process is even more sophisticated. In Acon Renovation LTD we don’t take a chance and always work according to new required Covid-19 protocols wearing all necessary PPE and keeping social distancing. This is one of our main goals: keep everyone safe during this unprecedented time.
Another milestone is finding materials. When pandemic times started, we experienced great shortages of building materials and supplies. Suppliers suspended deliveries causing huge delays in renovation and remodelling process. Gradually the situation improved but still the process of shopping is complicated due to on-line processing and curb-side pick-ups at Home Depot, Lowes, Rona, Home Hardware Stores and other suppliers.
At first glance looks like renovation or remodelling process has become next to impossible, but reality (simple statistics) shows that number of homeowners who are willing to invest into and improve their existing homes slowly increases.
Other phenomena which took place at the beginning of pandemia were growing number of DIY projects. It has just simple explanation: homeowners who were spending a lot of time in their homes at the same time trying to save money were trying to repair or renovate their homes themselves. And there is nothing weird about it. But remember that just simple paint job of your room is drastically different from moving a wall, fixing plumbing/electrical system or set tiles. All of those highly complicated jobs require licenced, experienced and insured technicians in order to avoid a tragedy. So my advice to those who “could do everything after just watching a YouTube video” would be: don’t take a chance, don’t waste time and more important your money. Just allow real professionals to take care of your renovation needs. In conclusion, I would like to say that no matter how complicated these unprecedented times could be, we are humans and we will overcome all the difficulties on our way in order to make our future better. And if you ask yourself “should I do my home renovation or not?”, if you still hesitating whether to improve you place of work or study…I answer “YES”, definitely yes. Newly renovated space brings you more happiness, more satisfaction. At the same time it boosts the value of your property and increases equity. Renovation/remodelling is not only beneficial solely to you, but for everyone around you as well. It provides work for people who produce materials and supplies, who deliver those goods, who sell them in hardware stores, who uses them while renovation your home. That is why home renovations, remodelling, building and restoring is a huge way to make our future better for everyone in this world.
